Score a Good Book and Read

Score a Good Book & Read!

The family that reads together has fun together resonated throughout the classrooms and hallways at Oak Ridge School on February 23, 2017.  The annual Family Read Night was an overwhelming success and good time for all that attended.   Nothing stopped students along with their parents and siblings from coming for an enjoyable evening out.   The halls and classrooms were filled with the excitement of students, parents, siblings, and staff during the two hour event. This year’s activities included teachers and staff members sharing books they love, a book exchange, raffles, book giveaways, a book walk, crafts, computer games such as Kahoot and the PTA sponsored Book Fair!

New this year to Family Read Night were Knock-out basketball and Hockey Puck Shot contests. Along with these activities included time spent with team mascots from the Chicago White Sox, Chicago Fire Soccer and the Chicago Red Stars. Students and families enjoyed taking pictures with the mascots as well as hearing a story with SouthPaw from the White Sox.

In addition to all the activities listed above the “ever popular” canine rooms where some of our teachers were joined by their furry friends to read a beloved story were once again a family favorite.Thank you to all of the teachers and staff for all of their hours of hard work to prepare for this wonderful event and for all of the beautiful basket that were donated to the PTA for their raffle.  Don’t forget, “Score a Good Book and Read.’
